THROUGH THE LORD, we ARE able to OVERCOME everything common to this plane! We have been deceived in too many ways when it comes to free will; we THINK because we are IN the world, we can take on it's ways, but here we MUST understand that our choices have power, and consequences according to THE LORD'S WILL, and PLAN! As Apostle Paul said, everything might be permissible, but not all things are beneficial (1 CORINTHIANS 6: 12)! Then he says that while everything might be allowable, he will NOT be mastered, or controlled by them! This is a GREAT lesson in growing into our REALITY, which is a far cry from what we imagine! Let us tap into this a bit deeper...
Some among the Corinthians seem to have been ready to say, All things are lawful for me. This dangerous conceit St. Paul opposes.
There is a liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, in which we must stand fast. But surely a Christian would never put himself into the power of any bodily appetite. The body is for the Lord; is to be an instrument of righteousness to holiness, therefore is never to be made an instrument of sin. It is an honour to the body, that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead; and it will be an honour to our bodies, that they will be raised. The hope of a resurrection to glory, should keep Christians from dishonouring their bodies by fleshly lusts. And if the soul be united to Christ by faith, the whole man is become a member of his spiritual body. Other vices may be conquered in fight; that here cautioned against, only by flight.
And vast multitudes are cut off by this vice in its various forms and consequences. Its effects fall not only directly upon the body, but often upon the mind. Our bodies have been redeemed from deserved condemnation and hopeless slavery by the atoning sacrifice of Christ.
We are to be clean, as vessels fitted for our Master's use. Being united to Christ as one spirit, and bought with a price of unspeakable value, the believer should consider himself as wholly the Lord's, by the strongest ties. May we make it our business, to the latest day and hour of our lives, to glorify God with our bodies, and with our spirits which are his.
WHY do we THINK that a CLEAN being can defile themselves by partaking in actions which are CLEARLY NOT aligned TO HIS WILL, such as being lustful, promiscuous, addicted, greedy, violent, and so on? WHERE did it come from that we can do whatever we want and proclaim to have died to what is of this world? It is LUDICROUS to say the least, even though we might STRUGGLE against such, we AIM to OVERCOME, no matter how difficult it might be, or how long it might take! See, THIS is where we are ensnared, because we detest anything which takes time, at least that which is not giving us pleasure, and so, we cave in instead of continuing the fight of FREEDOM from that which intends to chain us!!!
*GOD* LOVES us even in our sin, but what angers HIM IS our unwillingness to OVERCOME said sin(s)! IF we are TRYING to diminish, and defeat them WITH HIS assistance, we ARE acting correctly, and HE WILL be with us all the while; but if we don't WANT to because of foolish reasons which mostly, satiate the flesh, we HAVE to realize we are NOT existing IN HIM, and so, are endangered, which CAN be prevented BY self-control, and placing more value on others than on the egocentric self, and body!!!
TOO, if a feeling, or urge, or act persists long enough, we imagine it is just how we are, or is meant to be! NOT SO! This is the most dangerous mentality as it allows the enemy his entry into the being, and he will enslave us! It is BALONEY when people INSIST that they were born into this, or that, and that it IS the way it was meant to be! Our REALITY, our TRUTH IS as Heirs to THE KINGDOM which IS HOLY, and ALL within ARE also! *GOD* WANTS us to SEE our TRUE identity, NOT the one the world has hindered us, and fooled us with!!!
Sin, or errs WILL confront us, challenge us, and hope to take us down, ALL the days of our time on this Earth, BUT it is those CONSCIOUS ones which we CHOOSE to engage in which enslave us to the wrong master, AND SO, we MUST realize that we HAVE power in our choices TO please *GOD* first, instead of succumbing to what intends to cheat us out of our inheritance!!!
Some people LIKE the shackles they have on, for they have been on them for so long, they don't remember, or know FREEDOM, but these, especially, NEED THE LORD, hence those OF HIM, to break those shackles, and set them FREE! Certain people are SO used to their existence in shackles they will fight against removing them, but these REALLY NEED to be FREED, for they are lost, deceived, and deluded! Let's use a prostitute as an example; many of them have been abducted into such a way of existence, have been given drugs, have been beaten, and overall, have been shackled, but most of them did NOT aspire to exist this way, though after some time, they become convinced that maybe this is their lot, and so, they begin to believe it is what they were born into, in which case they become complacent, even comfortable in this role! They NEED *GOD*, and they NEED FREEDOM FROM THAT mentality; that mindset! See???
DON'T SETTLE for being less than *GOD* CREATED you to BE, instead, SEE the world as it is, and it's holds on you! SEEK HIM FOR THE TRUTH of your existence, and allow HIM to do HIS MIGHTY WORK in you! DON'T believe the lies, or BE led into the dark pits of slavery TO what works against you, and your soul! SEEK to be FREE IN THE LORD, because what is waiting for us is FAR greater than we can even imagine! ASK HIM for forgiveness, based on your acknowledgement of errs this far, then TRUST HIM to MOVE you to a HIGHER plane of knowledge, understanding, and health of body, mind, and spirit! It CAN be done, and SHOULD be done, BECAUSE we ARE CREATED BY THE LORD, and BELONG TO HIM, NOT to the ruler of this temporal world!!!

People misUSE that the battle is THE LORD'S, without ever stopping to consider that while the battle IS HIS, we ARE as soldiers of HIS MIGHTY army! We are taught to put on the armour of LOVE, and the full armour of *GOD* FOR the sake of the spiritual battle into which we have been drawn through err, and erroneous choices! We CAN'T do anything without HIM, but we sure can't be passive IF we are IN HIM; it just doesn't work like that, partly because we are PARTNERS OF THE COVENANT, which means we HAVE responsibility TO said agreement! What if Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego had been passive and complacent in their FAITH & FAITHFULNESS??? WHY does everyone want this to be one-sided, all on THE LORD, when it is clear, as HIS own, we ARE part, and parcel TO HIS WILL and PLAN being fulfilled, once and for all???
