These are tumultuous times, to say the least! Inner country revolutions, wars, social woes, economical disasters, Natural disasters, man created disasters, and, so much more happening all around us! In times like these, LOVE HAS be more prevalent than ever, as LOVE holds power of the Supernatural kind, which lends to resolution, and, towards PEACE!!!
LOVE THINE ENEMY is one of the most confounding instructions we are subject to, by the WORD of *GOD*, and yet, it IS, also, one of the most reasonable! Dig: MATTHEW 5:44 says, But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
Then, there is this: LUKE 6:27... "But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you. And this: PROVERBS 25:21... If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. This: PROVERBS 19:11... A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense. Again: ROMANS 12:20... On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."
There are LOTS of such verses concerning LOVE, and, LOVING thy enemy! One reason we are to LOVE our enemy is that they are, truly, no different than us, except they have taken the stance of enmity, BUT, also, this battle is NOT ours, NOR, are WE to take on judgement, for all justice is the LORD'S! Logically, LOVE is the answer, because, in the design of LOVE, all negatives are eradicated; not that they don't exist, especially to, towards, and, for us, the carnal beings, however, when we take a stance of LOVE, we are saving ourselves in *GOD'S* sight, as well as setting an example OF HIS LOVE, and, are lessening the probabilities which MIGHT occur in this enmity! There are countless reasons WHY we should LOVE our enemy, but, VIRTUE, and, the components of LOVE, should explain it well enough! IF you understand *GODLY* LOVE, then, you KNOW the powers of LOVE, which are many, and, are great!!!
We are like Children, especially when we try to justify our wrongness! We sound just like little ones as we try to explain away our involvement in wrongdoing; such as, "Well, he hates me, and, I don't trust him, because he hates me, so, why should I bother to offer him anything, let alone LOVE?" We try to defend our role in the animosity, but truly, there is no defense for complying to that which is wrong, debilitating, and, dangerous!!!
PASSIONS, which are derived from the egocentric mind, are the root of all war, hatred, animosity, and, Childish behaviours, which, CAUSE us to sin, and, if we are sinning, we are living AWAY from *GOD*, therefore, it is imperative to correct our characters, our behaviours, with understanding, and, gentle compliance to LOVE, and, HIS WAYS!!!
Let us look at the following Scriptures...
JAMES 3:13-18...
13/ Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
14/ But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.
15/ Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.
16/ For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
17/ But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
18/ Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.
JAMES 4:1-12...
1/ Where do the wars and where do the conflicts among you come from? Is it not from your passions that make war within your members?
2/ You covet but do not possess. You kill and envy but you cannot obtain; you fight and wage war. You do not possess because you do not ask.
3/ You ask but do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.
4/ Adulterers! Do you not know that to be a lover of the world means enmity with God? Therefore, whoever wants to be a lover of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
5/ Or do you suppose that the scripture speaks without meaning when it says, "The spirit that he has made to dwell in us tends toward jealousy"?
6/ But he bestows a greater grace; therefore, it says: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
7/ So submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8/ Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you of two minds.
9/ Begin to lament, to mourn, to weep. Let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy into dejection.
10/ Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will exalt you.
11/ Do not speak evil of one another, brothers. Whoever speaks evil of a brother or judges his brother speaks evil of the law and judges the law. If you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.
12/ There is one lawgiver and judge who is able to save or to destroy. Who then are you to judge your neighbor?
So, you see, there IS viable instruction to us on HOW to deal with the enemy, animosity, and, the roots of ALL TROUBLE amongst us!!!
LOVE IS all there is, so, how is it that WE, CREATED IN the image of the LIVING *GOD*, are SO FAR removed from this single, most imperative TRUTH? May we ever continue to LEARN, that UNDERSTANDING leads the way to the healing balm of the GRACIOUS LIGHT of the LORD, our *GOD*!!! AMEN!!!
