It is a state wrought from deep in the soul; one which comes to light via the understanding, and then, acknowledgement of our having ever lived away from our LORD, via our errs, due to the world, and it's ways, hence, our upbringing...
It might sound like a dark place to step foot into, and still, from my own experience, it is actually, a freeing experience which sees us closer to our LORD. It is a place of experiencing in a deep sense the way the flesh has led us astray, how, and why this has happened. Some will say it is a place of guilt, but it is beyond that; instead it is that state of acceptance which HUMBLES us TO the point of SINCERE allegiance TO *GOD*, and the ability to yield to HIM, HIS LOVE, HIS WILL, HIS WAYS...
TRUTH produces *GODLY* or HOLY sorrow; a person cannot feign it, or attempt it, it is one with the root of growth, and development in CHRIST JESUS! It just happens, somewhere in our journey, bringing us to the reality of our existence, which is spirit! Where GRACE and MERCY abound, they become one within, and are evidenced without...
2 CORINTHIANS 7: 9-11...
9+++I now rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful, but that you were made sorrowful to the point of repentance; for you were made sorrowful according to the will of God, so that you might not suffer loss in anything through us.
10+++For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.
11+++For behold what earnestness this very thing, this godly sorrow, has produced in you: what vindication of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what avenging of wrong! In everything you demonstrated yourselves to be innocent in the matter.
There were fightings without, or continual contentions with, and opposition from Jews and Gentiles; and there were fears within, and great concern for such as had embraced the Christian faith.
But God comforts those who are cast down. We should look above and beyond all means and instruments, to God, as the author of all the consolation and good we enjoy.
Sorrow according to the will of God, tending to the glory of God, and wrought by the Spirit of God, renders the heart humble, contrite, submissive, disposed to mortify every sin, and to walk in newness of life. And this repentance is connected with saving faith in Christ, and an interest in his atonement.
There is a great difference between this sorrow of a godly sort, and the sorrow of the world. The happy fruits of true repentance are mentioned. Where the heart is changed, the life and actions will be changed. It wrought indignation at sin, at themselves, at the tempter and his instruments. It wrought a fear of watchfulness, and a cautious fear of sin. It wrought desire to be reconciled with God. It wrought zeal for duty, and against sin. It wrought revenge against sin and their own folly, by endeavours to make satisfaction for injuries done thereby. Deep humility before God, hatred of all sin, with faith in Christ, a new heart and a new life, make repentance unto salvation. May the Lord bestow it on every one of us.
GENIUS IS our LORD, and SURE ARE HIS WILL, and WAYS, for LOVE IS simply, THAT POWERFUL, and THAT ABLE TO LEAD HIS people PAST what aspires to take them!!!
Let us ever learn, and embrace HIS MAJESTIC WAYS, and let us PRAISE HIM, WORSHIP HIM, and REJOICE FOR LOVING us THAT much, that we are WHOLLY cared for! Let us THANK HIM, and be GRATEFUL, for ONLY HE LOVES in TRUTH, and to the point of LIFTING us into THE KINGDOM! Let us PRAY, PRAY, PRAY, and let us HONOUR HIM THROUGH worthy fruits!!!
