Not so long ago, a Woman told me I am narrow minded because I do not acknowledge other gods. I know they exist, but I also know that there is ONLY ONE LIVING, and TRUE *GOD*, THE LORD *GOD* ALMIGHTY, the CREATOR of ALL in existence, and the SAVIOUR of humanity from all lesser gods, which HAVE been devised by the oppressor, the enemy IN ORDER to destroy! I judge not, for I have grown up around people who have worshiped other gods, although, I refuse to accept them as gods, BECAUSE they are made by humans, or worse, and have NO powers beyond what exists in the minds of those who worship them!
I WISH that such people could SEE for themselves, as they should, that their gods CANNOT SAVE them, help them, or do anything more than to stir up THE WRATH of THE ONE TRUE *GOD*! I WISH they could begin to realize as they face destruction, that these lesser gods HAVE NO REAL POWERS! I am not denying that there are man-made, and evil powers, but these powers, again, are concocted, NOT true, or lasting, and work because of the mind! I WISH for the sake of their souls that they would notice, especially in times of trouble, that their gods crumble, and are easily destroyed, and cannot raise themselves anew, or offer assistance to those who follow them! I guess they will NOT know until it is too late, and their souls are cast aside much like those gods they worship; it is a shame that no one has been able to reach them, and help them to KNOW THE TRUTH...
JUDGES 10: 13-14...
13+++“Yet you have forsaken Me and served other gods; therefore I will no longer deliver you.
14+++“Go and cry out to the gods which you have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your distress.”
God is able to multiply men's punishments according to the numbers of their sins and idols. But there is hope when sinners cry to the Lord for help, and lament their ungodliness as well as their more open transgressions. It is necessary, in true repentance, that there be a full conviction that those things cannot help us which we have set in competition with God.
They acknowledged what they deserved, yet prayed to God not to deal with them according to their deserts. We must submit to God's justice, with a hope in his mercy. True repentance is not only for sin, but from sin. As the disobedience and misery of a child are a grief to a tender father, so the provocations of God's people are a grief to him. From him mercy never can be sought in vain. Let then the trembling sinner, and the almost despairing backslider, cease from debating about God's secret purposes, or from expecting to find hope from former experiences. Let them cast themselves on the mercy of God our Saviour, humble themselves under his hand, seek deliverance from the powers of darkness, separate themselves from sin, and from occasions of it, use the means of grace diligently, and wait the Lord's time, and so they shall certainly rejoice in his mercy.
JEREMIAH 2: 28...
"But where are your gods Which you made for yourself? Let them arise, if they can save you In the time of your trouble;
Men are often as much under the power of their unbridled desires and their sinful lusts, as the brute beasts. But the Lord here warns them not to weary themselves in pursuits which could only bring distress and misery. As we must not despair of the mercy of God, but believe that to be sufficient for the pardon of our sins, so neither must we despair of the grace of God, but believe that it is able to subdue our corruptions, though ever so strong.
DEUTERONOMY 4: 15-19 & 35 & 39...
15+++“So watch yourselves carefully, since you did not see any form on the day the LORD spoke to you at Horeb from the midst of the fire,
16+++so that you do not act corruptly and make a graven image for yourselves in the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female,
17+++the likeness of any animal that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the sky, 18the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the water below the earth.
19+++“And beware not to lift up your eyes to heaven and see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, and be drawn away and worship them and serve them, those which the LORD your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven.
35+++“To you it was shown that you might know that the LORD, He is God; there is no other besides Him.
39+++“Know therefore today, and take it to your heart, that the LORD, He is God in heaven above and on the earth below; there is no other
Moses urged the greatness, glory, and goodness of God. Did we consider what a God he is with whom we have to do, we should surely make conscience of our duty to him, and not dare to sin against him. Shall we forsake a merciful God, who will never forsake us, if we are faithful unto him? Whither can we go? Let us be held to our duty by the bonds of love, and prevailed with by the mercies of God to cleave to him.
Moses urged God's authority over them, and their obligations to him. In keeping God's commandments they would act wisely for themselves. The fear of the Lord, that is wisdom. Those who enjoy the benefit of Divine light and laws, ought to support their character for wisdom and honour, that God may be glorified thereby. Those who call upon God, shall certainly find him within call, ready to give an answer of peace to every prayer of faith.
All these statutes and judgments of the Divine law are just and righteous, above the statutes and judgments of any of the nations. What they saw at mount Sinai, gave an earnest of the day of judgment, in which the Lord Jesus shall be revealed in flaming fire. They must also remember what they heard at mount Sinai. God manifests himself in the works of the creation, without speech or language, yet their voice is heard, Ps 19:1,3; but to Israel he made himself known by speech and language, condescending to their weakness. The rise of this nation was quite different from the origin of all other nations.
See the reasons of free grace; we are not beloved for our own sakes, but for Christ's sake. Moses urged the certain benefit and advantage of obedience. This argument he had begun with, ver. 1, That ye may live, and go in and possess the land; and this he concludes with, ver. 40, That it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee. He reminds them that their prosperity would depend upon their piety. Apostacy from God would undoubtedly be the ruin of their nation. He foresees their revolt from God to idols. Those, and those only, shall find God to their comfort, who seek him with all their heart.
Afflictions engage and quicken us to seek God; and, by the grace of God working with them, many are thus brought back to their right mind. When these things are come upon thee, turn to the Lord thy God, for thou seest what comes of turning from him. Let all the arguments be laid together, and then say, if religion has not reason on its side. None cast off the government of their God, but those who first abandon the understanding of a man.
ISAIAH 42: 8...
“I am the LORD, that is My name;
I will not give My glory to another,
Nor My praise to graven images.
The work of redemption brings back man to the obedience he owes to God as his Maker. Christ is the light of the world. And by his grace he opens the understandings Satan has blinded, and sets at liberty from the bondage of sin. The Lord has supported his church. And now he makes new promises, which shall as certainly be fulfilled as the old ones were. When the Gentiles are brought into the church, he is glorified in them and by them. Let us give to God those things which are his, taking heed that we do not serve the creature more than the Creator.
ISAIAH 45: 21-22...
21+++“Declare and set forth your case;
Indeed, let them consult together.
Who has announced this from of old?
Who has long since declared it?
Is it not I, the LORD?
And there is no other God besides Me,
A righteous God and a Savior;
There is none except Me.
22+++“Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth;
For I am God, and there is no other.
1 KINGS 18: 17-39...
17+++When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, “Is this you, you troubler of Israel?”
18+++He said, “I have not troubled Israel, but you and your father’s house have, because you have forsaken the commandments of the LORD and you have followed the Baals.
19+++“Now then send and gather to me all Israel at Mount Carmel, together with 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of the Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.”
20+++So Ahab sent a message among all the sons of Israel and brought the prophets together at Mount Carmel.
21+++Elijah came near to all the people and said, “How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people did not answer him a word.
22+++Then Elijah said to the people, “I alone am left a prophet of the LORD, but Baal’s prophets are 450 men.
23+++“Now let them give us two oxen; and let them choose one ox for themselves and cut it up, and place it on the wood, but put no fire under it; and I will prepare the other ox and lay it on the wood, and I will not put a fire under it.
24+++“Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the LORD, and the God who answers by fire, He is God.” And all the people said, “That is a good idea.”
25+++So Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose one ox for yourselves and prepare it first for you are many, and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under it.”
26+++Then they took the ox which was given them and they prepared it and called on the name of Baal from morning until noon saying, “O Baal, answer us.” But there was no voice and no one answered. And they leaped about the altar which they made.
27+++It came about at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, “Call out with a loud voice, for he is a god; either he is occupied or gone aside, or is on a journey, or perhaps he is asleep and needs to be awakened.”
28+++So they cried with a loud voice and cut themselves according to their custom with swords and lances until the blood gushed out on them.
29+++When midday was past, they raved until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice; but there was no voice, no one answered, and no one paid attention.
30+++Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me.” So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD which had been torn down.
31+++Elijah took twelve stones according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the LORD had come, saying, “Israel shall be your name.”
32+++So with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD, and he made a trench around the altar, large enough to hold two measures of seed.
33+++Then he arranged the wood and cut the ox in pieces and laid it on the wood.
34+++And he said, “Fill four pitchers with water and pour it on the burnt offering and on the wood.” And he said, “Do it a second time,” and they did it a second time. And he said, “Do it a third time,” and they did it a third time.
35+++The water flowed around the altar and he also filled the trench with water.
36+++At the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet came near and said, “O LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, today let it be known that You are God in Israel and that I am Your servant and I have done all these things at Your word.
37+++“Answer me, O LORD, answer me, that this people may know that You, O LORD, are God, and that You have turned their heart back again.”
38+++Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
39+++When all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The LORD, He is God; the LORD, He is God.”
THE WORLD TEACHES us things TO CHAIN us to destruction; it is IMPERATIVE TO THINK, long and hard about WHAT the world teaches, and accepts as normal, BECAUSE the rulers, authorities, and principalities of this world ARE determined to take as many down with them as they can! Of course, if you don't believe in the ONE TRUE *GOD*, you are not likely to take HIS SOVEREIGN POWERS into consideration, but really, one SHOULD as there won't be any second chances or opportunities when HE COMES to take HIS own from the grips of this fading plane!!!
No, I do not judge, instead I worry, and PRAY for those who are blinded by the darkness, imagining they are blessed, as they revel in the falsehood of the world, and are, misled by the enemy of *GOD*!!!
