Besides the fact that we live as if we are immortal, ever taking our time for granted, not living as if this could be our last day, too many people believe, or, imagine, that *GOD'S* WORD is adaptable to the times! NOT SO! The WORD stands for ALL of time without alteration of any sort!!!
YOU KNOW that history repeats itself, therefore, there is NOTHING about these times which is new, nor, could it be considered varied enough to allow for the WORD to sway! *GOD* is ALL KNOWING, and, EVERY single thing since the manifestation of HIMSELF, and, in CREATION is KNOWN to HIM, which means ALL you do, think, or, say is already done BEFORE the fact, and, IS a part of the DIVINE order of HIS plan!!!
Lots of you will then challenge the guilt of your sinful nature, thinking that if it is already known, and, done, then, it is alright! Again, NOT SO! It is like this: That ALL GLORY be UNTO HIM, and, RETURNED unto HIM, we ARE to LEARN, then, ARISE from our human fallacies! Complex as it is, it is NOT beyond our capacities, not at all!!!
Let us look at the BOOK of Ephesians, which is as imperative in instructions, as is the previously mentioned BOOK of Romans!
Ephesians 3:3-14:
3. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.
4. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love
5. he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—
6. to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
7. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace
8. that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding,
9. he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ,
10. to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.
11. In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,
12. in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.
13. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,
14. who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.
Then, Ephesians 2:1-22, and, Ephesians 4:1-32, and, Ephesians 5:1-33. In each of these Chapters, there is CLEAR instruction to living ABOVE the world of SIN! Instructions which do NOT alter with time, circumstance, nor, individuals, but, which are to applied by ALL whom claim to be one with *GOD*! The bottom line is, we CANNOT have it our way, and, HIS way, for HIS way IS the ONLY WAY, at least, IF YOUR are living in HOPE, or, expectation of salvation!!!
Ephesians 5:1-2:
1. Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children
2. and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
And then, Ephesians 5:13-20:
13. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.
14. This is why it is said:
“Wake up, sleeper,
rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”
15. Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise,
16. making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
17. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
18. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit,
19. speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord,
20. always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I know some of you are going to challenge verse 18, even though this should NOT be more important than the rest of the dialogue, but, you need to understand this, as it is INTENDED! *GOD* allows for drinking, but, NOT drunkenness! I am sure most of us HAVE been inebriated at one time, or, another, and, KNOW fully what dangers exist in this state! We are then as weak as we can be, and, can FALL into the snares of SIN all the easier, because we are high, and, NOT thinking clearly! So, drink, yes, but, do not become altered in doing so! There are MANY references throughout the WORD stating that drink is acceptable, but, becoming drunken is not! It is a matter of CONTROL, as it is with most other instances in life!!!
We are to live in gentleness, humility, LOVE, affection, honor, regard, respect, patience, tolerance, kindness, and, ALL OTHER virtuous dispositions, that we ARE walking in HIS example, at least, to the best of our abilities! In doing so, we learn much, believe me, along the way, and, as we become more adept at living in the GOODness of our selves, the MORE GOODNESS itself, becomes a part of our every minute, hour, and, day! You see, in our state of ATTEMPTING to be worthy of HIM, GOODNESS is unleashed from HIM, that our lives are optimized, making it all the easier to STAY WITHIN HIS GRACE!!!
