From the BOOK OF GENESIS, all the way through the BOOK OF REVELATIONS, THE LORD *GOD* URGES people to TURN TO HIM, to repent, and to obey HIM; all designed to bring HIS people through the valley TO THE KINGDOM; to enlighten them, enable them, enrich them, empower them, and encourage them as they journey on THE PATH, and as they come closer TO HIM, and their BLESSED reality...
Repenting must incorporate recognition/acknowledgement, sorrow, and a changing of the mind; actually, a change of heart. The GRACE of THE LORD *GOD* LEADS us to repentance, though GRACE does NOT lead to tolerance of sin, instead to fear of *GOD*, and to turning away from it! LOVE IS the foundation of HIS MERCY, of HIS GRACE, of HIS GIFT of Salvation, and IS that which we SHOULD learn, embrace, and meld with THAT our RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM grows, and thrives, TO the point of us existing AS HIS CHOSEN people, citizens of HEAVEN, NOT of the world, albeit travelers through it! WHEN we LOVE in the example OF our LORD *GOD*, we open UP TO HIM, thus HIS HOLY SPIRIT resides in us, works through us, and furthers our ability TO develop, and to navigate this valley more enlightened, more effectively, and much safer than if we were left to ourselves...
In these days, more of the world has denied THE LORD *GOD*, or has cast HIM aside, or has gotten lost, and this means that there is WORK to be done that HE REMAINS in the midst, via THE CHURCH, in word, and deed, as we, in every possible way, KEEP HIM visible that these MIGHT be inspired TO turn, or return to HIM! It IS FOR HIS GLORY, and the sake of souls that we exemplify HIM, teach, admonish, and REFLECT HIM...
We ARE in perilous, and tumultuous times, and just as it has always been, there NEEDS be voices in the lands reminding all to "Repent, for THE KINGDOM of HEAVEN IS at hand"! There are souls at risk, and there is less attention being drawn TO *GOD*, hence our roles IN HIS PLAN, and as HIS PARTNERS of THE COVENANT!!!
ACTS 2: 38-41...
38+++Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39+++The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
40+++With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”
41+++Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
From the first delivery of that Divine message, it appeared that there was Divine power going with it; and thousands were brought to the obedience of faith. But neither Peter's words, nor the miracle they witnessed, could have produced such effects, had not the Holy Spirit been given.
Sinners, when their eyes are opened, cannot but be pricked to the heart for sin, cannot but feel an inward uneasiness. The apostle exhorted them to repent of their sins, and openly to avow their belief in Jesus as the Messiah, by being baptized in his name. Thus professing their faith in Him, they would receive remission of their sins, and partake of the gifts and graces of the Holy Spirit.
To separate from wicked people, is the only way to save ourselves from them. Those who repent of their sins, and give up themselves to Jesus Christ, must prove their sincerity by breaking off from the wicked. We must save ourselves from them; which denotes avoiding them with dread and holy fear. By God's grace three thousand persons accepted the gospel invitation. There can be no doubt that the gift of the Holy Ghost, which they all received, and from which no true believer has ever been shut out, was that Spirit of adoption, that converting, guiding, sanctifying grace, which is bestowed upon all the members of the family of our heavenly Father.
Repentance and remission of sins are still preached to the chief of sinners, in the Redeemer's name; still the Holy Spirit seals the blessing on the believer's heart; still the encouraging promises are to us and our children; and still the blessings are offered to all that are afar off.
