A very difficult area of understanding for us to meld with is that this planet is NOT our home! We exist here amid that which we can see, hear, feel, touch, and taste, thus we adapt more to this realm than our TRUE HOME, despite that deep inside we KNOW THE TRUTH! All part of the oppressor's infiltration system, as it is elementary that the human condition responds with it's senses more than not! And those who don't know THE LORD *GOD* will likely, have difficulty, or never accept, let alone understand that TRUE LIFE is not of this world...
Home is where the heart is, they say, which has derived from carnal principles, but which is deeply rooted in DIVINE principles! IF I were to accept that the Earth, and the world were my home, my heart would be attached to it, and so, my time would be devoted to what is of this Earth, and world! THANKS BE TO *GOD* I KNOW that this IS the valley of the shadow of death which can either take me captive, or LEAD me to HIGHER grounds, and MY HOME!!!
I WAS once enslaved by this world, still I KNEW there was more than this, and FAR better! I got lost, not exactly by my own doing, and I was thrashed around well by the enemy, which I fought with all I had, and grew in understanding from, then *GOD* eventually, rescued me, set me on THE PATH, taught me more, more, and more, and opened my being TO RECEIVING THE TRUTH of my reality! HALLELUJAH, I AM SO THANKFUL, because I was nearing the gates of no return, I am sure of it!!!
We ARE strangers in a strange land, and we ARE endangered in endless ways! WITHOUT THE LORD we would have no option, but PRAISE HIM, we DO have THE WAY to LEAD us beyond the shroud of lies, of falsehoods, of deception, which aspire to cause us to be deluded, confused, and void of HOPE, PEACE, or JOY!!!
AS Children of THE LORD *GOD* ALMIGHTY, we ARE to bring TO this realm, and the people, HIS WILL, and WAYS, in more than sharing HIS WORD, instead through our own existence; body, mind, heart, and spirit, AS we REFLECT HIM FOR others to take note of, to bear witness to, to be inspired by, and hopefully then, to FOLLOW HIM! We are NOT here to fuse into the world, instead we ARE here to EXEMPLIFY the colossal contrast of our TRUTH, and reality! We ARE here to DO HIS WILL, and to be workers of equity, of righteousness, to show justness, and to assist as we can! We ARE SERVANTS OF THE LORD *GOD*, which involves serving humanity as well! We ARE here to REITERATE, as well as ILLUMINATE CHRIST JESUS in more than word!!!
Yah, we are IN the world, but we are NOT OF the world; we are in exodus, and this exodus is NO easier than it was long, long ago, and which IS perpetual for every generation UNTIL CHRIST JESUS RETURNS, and establishes, once and for all, HIS HOLY KINGDOM!!!
PHILIPPIANS 3: 20...
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;
This simple dependence and earnestness of soul, were not mentioned as if the apostle had gained the prize, or were already made perfect in the Saviour's likeness. He forgot the things which were behind, so as not to be content with past labours or present measures of grace. He reached forth, stretched himself forward towards his point; expressions showing great concern to become more and more like unto Christ. He who runs a race, must never stop short of the end, but press forward as fast as he can; so those who have heaven in their view, must still press forward to it, in holy desires and hopes, and constant endeavours.
Eternal life is the gift of God, but it is in Christ Jesus; through his hand it must come to us, as it is procured for us by him. There is no getting to heaven as our home, but by Christ as our Way. True believers, in seeking this assurance, as well as to glorify him, will seek more nearly to resemble his sufferings and death, by dying to sin, and by crucifying the flesh with its affections and lusts. In these things there is a great difference among real Christians, but all know something of them. Believers make Christ all in all, and set their hearts upon another world. If they differ from one another, and are not of the same judgment in lesser matters, yet they must not judge one another; while they all meet now in Christ, and hope to meet shortly in heaven. Let them join in all the great things in which they are agreed, and wait for further light as to lesser things wherein they differ.
The enemies of the cross of Christ mind nothing but their sensual appetites. Sin is the sinner's shame, especially when gloried in. The way of those who mind earthly things, may seem pleasant, but death and hell are at the end of it. If we choose their way, we shall share their end.
The life of a Christian is in heaven, where his Head and his home are, and where he hopes to be shortly; he sets his affections upon things above; and where his heart is, there will his conversation be. There is glory kept for the bodies of the saints, in which they will appear at the resurrection. Then the body will be made glorious; not only raised again to life, but raised to great advantage. Observe the power by which this change will be wrought. May we be always prepared for the coming of our Judge; looking to have our vile bodies changed by his Almighty power, and applying to him daily to new-create our souls unto holiness; to deliver us from our enemies, and to employ our bodies and souls as instruments of righteousness in his service.
MATTHEW 16: 26...
"For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
A true disciple of Christ is one that does follow him in duty, and shall follow him to glory. He is one that walks in the same way Christ walked in, is led by his Spirit, and treads in his steps, whithersoever he goes. Let him deny himself. If self-denial be a hard lesson, it is no more than what our Master learned and practised, to redeem us, and to teach us. Let him take up his cross. The cross is here put for every trouble that befalls us. We are apt to think we could bear another's cross better than our own; but that is best which is appointed us, and we ought to make the best of it. We must not by our rashness and folly pull crosses down upon our own heads, but must take them up when they are in our way. If any man will have the name and credit of a disciple, let him follow Christ in the work and duty of a disciple.
If all worldly things are worthless when compared with the life of the body, how forcible the same argument with respect to the soul and its state of never-ending happiness or misery! Thousands lose their souls for the most trifling gain, or the most worthless indulgence, nay, often from mere sloth and negligence. Whatever is the object for which men forsake Christ, that is the price at which Satan buys their souls. Yet one soul is worth more than all the world. This is Christ's judgment upon the matter; he knew the price of souls, for he redeemed them; nor would he underrate the world, for he made it. The dying transgressor cannot purchase one hour's respite to seek mercy for his perishing soul. Let us then learn rightly to value our souls, and Christ as the only Saviour of them.
JAMES 4: 4-10...
4+++You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
5+++Or do you think that the Scripture speaks to no purpose: “He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us”?
6+++But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.”
7+++Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
8+++Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
9+++Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom.
10+++Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.
Here is a decided warning to avoid all criminal friendships with this world. Worldly-mindedness is enmity to God. An enemy may be reconciled, but enmity never can be reconciled. A man may have a large portion in things of this life, and yet be kept in the love of God; but he who sets his heart upon the world, who will conform to it rather than lose its friendship, is an enemy to God. So that any one who resolves at all events to be upon friendly terms with the world, must be the enemy of God. Did then the Jews, or the loose professors of Christianity, think the Scripture spake in vain against this worldly-mindedness? or does the Holy Spirit who dwells in all Christians, or the new nature which he creates, produce such fruit? Natural corruption shows itself by envying. The spirit of the world teaches us to lay up, or lay out for ourselves, according to our own fancies; God the Holy Spirit teaches us to be willing to do good to all about us, as we are able.
The grace of God will correct and cure the spirit by nature in us; and where he gives grace, he gives another spirit than that of the world. The proud resist God: in their understanding they resist the truths of God; in their will they resist the laws of God; in their passions they resist the providence of God; therefore, no wonder that God resists the proud. How wretched the state of those who make God their enemy!
God will give more grace to the humble, because they see their need of it, pray for it are thankful for it, and such shall have it. Submit to God, ver. 7. Submit your understanding to the truth of God; submit your wills to the will of his precept, the will of his providence. Submit yourselves to God, for he is ready to do you good. If we yield to temptations, the devil will continually follow us; but if we put on the whole armour of God, and stand out against him, he will leave us. Let sinners then submit to God, and seek his grace and favour; resisting the devil. All sin must be wept over; here, in godly sorrow, or, hereafter, in eternal misery. And the Lord will not refuse to comfort one who really mourns for sin, or to exalt one who humbles himself before him.
1 PETER 2: 11-12...
11+++Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul.
12+++Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation.
Even the best of men, the chosen generation, the people of God, need to be exhorted to keep from the worst sins. And fleshly lusts are most destructive to man's soul. It is a sore judgment to be given up to them. There is a day of visitation coming, wherein God may call to repentance by his word and his grace; then many will glorify God, and the holy lives of his people will have promoted the happy change.
1 THESSALONIANS 2: 12...
so that you would walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.
Mildness and tenderness greatly recommend religion, and are most conformable to God's gracious dealing with sinners, in and by the gospel. This is the way to win people. We should not only be faithful to our calling as Christians, but in our particular callings and relations. Our great gospel privilege is, that God has called us to his kingdom and glory. The great gospel duty is, that we walk worthy of God. We should live as becomes those called with such a high and holy calling. Our great business is to honour, serve, and please God, and to seek to be worthy of him.
COLOSSIANS 3: 2...
Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
As Christians are freed from the ceremonial law, they must walk the more closely with God in gospel obedience. As heaven and earth are contrary one to the other, both cannot be followed together; and affection to the one will weaken and abate affection to the other. Those that are born again are dead to sin, because its dominion is broken, its power gradually subdued by the operation of grace, and it shall at length be extinguished by the perfection of glory. To be dead, then, means this, that those who have the Holy Spirit, mortifying within them the lusts of the flesh, are able to despise earthly things, and to desire those that are heavenly.
Christ is, at present, one whom we have not seen; but our comfort is, that our life is safe with him. The streams of this living water flow into the soul by the influences of the Holy Spirit, through faith. Christ lives in the believer by his Spirit, and the believer lives to him in all he does. At the second coming of Christ, there will be a general assembling of all the redeemed; and those whose life is now hid with Christ, shall then appear with him in his glory. Do we look for such happiness, and should we not set our affections upon that world, and live above this?
