Right now our country, in fact, the whole world is reeling from the effects of wickedness, evil, and err, thus PRAYER IS more than called for, it IS NECESSARY to those who are OF *GOD*, and OF LOVE! Behind ALL suffering in this world IS the stubborn root of err, of sin, of pride, and whatever else works against us, thus we are urged to PRAY, and to petition on behalf of everyone! PRAYER is ESSENTIALLY INTERCESSORY; we PRAY for *GOD* to touch the hearts of those who are evil, that they MIGHT be brought INTO TRUTH, and therefore, their wrongness, eradicated! We PRAY for enemies, we PRAY for LOVED ones, we PRAY for the sick, the lonely, the orphaned, the widowed, the downtrodden, we PRAY for our leaders, we PRAY for fellow citizens, we PRAY for the lost, we PRAY for the CHURCH, we PRAY, we PRAY, we PRAY!!!
PRAYER helps us in our weaknesses, it has MANY advantages which aid us in our existence, even as we PRAY for others! IF we WOULD PRAY without ceasing as we are bid to (1 THESSALONIANS 5), time would be used more effectively, more wisely, and more benevolently too! PRAYER KEEPS US ANCHORED IN OUR LORD, and our minds ON HIM, as well as INCREASES our compassion, concern, and care for others OVER the self! There ARE endless benefits in our PRAYERS; they are as a rescue line, a parachute, a safety net, and so much more! PRAYERS are also inclusive to PRAISE, WORSHIP, REJOICING, and HONORING THE LORD, and so, let us PRAY!!!
13+++Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.
14+++Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.
15+++And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
16+++Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
17+++Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.
18+++Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.
19+++My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back,
20+++remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.
In a day of affliction nothing is more seasonable than prayer. The spirit is then most humble, and the heart is broken and tender.
It is necessary to exercise faith and hope under afflictions; and prayer is the appointed means for obtaining and increasing these graces. Observe, that the saving of the sick is not ascribed to the anointing with oil, but to prayer. In a time of sickness it is not cold and formal prayer that is effectual, but the prayer of faith.
The great thing we should beg of God for ourselves and others in the time of sickness is, the pardon of sin. Let nothing be done to encourage any to delay, under the mistaken fancy that a confession, a prayer, a minister's absolution and exhortation, or the sacrament, will set all right at last, where the duties of a godly life have been disregarded. To acknowledge our faults to each other, will tend greatly to peace and brotherly love.
And when a righteous person, a true believer, justified in Christ, and by his grace walking before God in holy obedience, presents an effectual fervent prayer, wrought in his heart by the power of the Holy Spirit, raising holy affections and believing expectations and so leading earnestly to plead the promises of God at his mercy-seat, it avails much. The power of prayer is proved from the history of Elijah. In prayer we must not look to the merit of man, but to the grace of God. It is not enough to say a prayer, but we must pray in prayer. Thoughts must be fixed, desires must be firm and ardent, and graces exercised. This instance of the power of prayer, encourages every Christian to be earnest in prayer. God never says to any of the seed of Jacob, Seek my face in vain. Where there may not be so much of miracle in God's answering our prayers, yet there may be as much of grace.
CHRIST JESUS PRAYED the whole of HIS Earthly journey! HE taught us TO PRAY, and HOW to PRAY! We LEARN more and more HOW to PRAY as we grow into HIM, and our TRUTH, partly because we gain insight into our duties to HIM, and others! HIS SPIRIT guides, directs, teaches, translates, inspires, and advocates for the sincere, and absolutely, the more we PRAY, the greater ease there is in doing so, and the more natural, thus TRUER are our supplication becomes! PRAYER IS COMMUNION WITH THE LORD, an INTIMATE rapport, and ONENESS WITH HIM! It IS CRUCIAL, and there IS DIRE NEED for it concerning ALL, and all things!!!
