Though rarely do they care to discover the facts of what they have heard; especially true when what is heard is negatively inclined! In this world, research counts for much, and this should include everything we hear, and just because someone we think we know says something, that doesn't make it true, nor written in stone! ALL things said, ARE subject to discernment, and this NEEDS to be taken seriously, because MANY lives have been destroyed by assumptions, and MANY events have led to great travesties due to lack of investigation BEFORE people jump on the bandwagon, before they develop mob mentalities!!!
Discernment IS crucial to maintaining the Christian, and THE CHURCH, although, this too, can be taken TOO far, and have even worse results! One should LEARN to discern with LOVE, compassion, gentleness, and ALL other characteristics which our LORD, CHRIST JESUS possesses! It takes time to develop the skills of discernment, but it IS a worthy endeavour, for HIS GLORY, and the overall well-being of THE BODY of HIS BELOVED CHURCH!!!
SO many times a simple whisper/repeat in one ear becomes as a roaring lion as it spirals outwardly from undiscerning lips! SO many times we judge, condemn, and worse when WE HAVE NOT taken the time to find out the FACTS; instead, we are SURE IF so and so said it, it MUST be true! And SO many times those we admire ARE the biggest busybodies, gossipers, slanders, and so forth, therefore, we are led AWAY from TRUTH by association, because when we admire someone, we RARELY stop to assess them overall!!!
Some people are not strong enough to withstand the unsubstantiated words thrown their way, or spread about them, and I have to ask, IF someone of the FAITH spreads words that either harm, or can lead to another being harmed, IS that acceptable, and doesn't that work against the GLORY OF *GOD*? Therefore, if it is NOT of HIS GLORY, and WILL, it is NOT useful to THE CHURCH, for the whole of THE CHURCH IS TO BUILD ONE ANOTHER UP, FOR HIS GLORY!!!
No wonder there are 100 or so reference in THE BIBLE about the tongue, and the taming of it! Our tongues are PERFECT snares, IF we DON'T take the time to control them, in which we NEED THE LORD'S help! It is an OBVIOUS trip up, and yet we fall into it, time, time, and time again! If ever there was a person who did not fall into it, besides CHRIST, I would be amazed! We ALL err in this matter, but MORE than some are REALLY bound up in this err!!!
Not only should we learn to tame our tongue, we should work diligently on taming our ears, that they do NOT accept everything they hear, and our eyes, that they do NOT believe everything they read, especially concerning other people, whom might not ever have the opportunity to prove themselves!!!
At ANY given second in time, the world is abuzz, and is listening, often without thinking about ALL of the details, and pertinent information which IS a part of the whole of what they are listening to! We OUGHT to be listening with *GOD* tuned ears, and seeing with *GOD* sight, and talking with *GODLY* lips, NOT as one with the world, for the world IS set against HIM, and us! EVERYTHING in this time can lead us TO *GOD*, or away from HIM, in which case, we KNOW the outcome of either, and so, let us set our hearts ON HIM, then train our minds to FOLLOW HIM closely, that all is well with our souls, in which case, as more, more, and more of HIS own REFLECT HIM, makes the world a much better place to journey through...

*GOD* IS LOVE, thus HIS people ARE LOVE, and IN LOVE, there is NOTHING negative, therefore, let us GRASP ONTO what is POSITIVE, what is RIGHT, what is JUST, what is GOOD, in thought, in word, in action, and in reaction, FOR HIS GLORY, and the greater GOOD of ALL!!!
