GETTING
OFF
SNIDELY
SCANDALIZING
INTENDED (even INNOCENT)
PEOPLE!!! lw'13
We are surrounded by vicious gossips, and I tell you, it is agonizing my spirit! They not only gossip about ANYONE who is not part of their too closely knitted circles, they gossip about the Spouses, and Children of their own Family members, and, in front of their Children, which in turn, teaches them that it is alright to dog people! It is almost like a disease with these people, and it must be curtailed...
Am I 100% innocent of never talking about others? No, not quite, though, I am learning some detrimental lessons in this area of Christian behaviour from others, thanks be to *GOD*! And, I am WAY inclined to refrain from involving myself in such...
The point is that as THE WORD depicts, the tongue is like a raging fire, and if not controlled, or tamed, it leads us to sin, in diverse ways! This is proven by people that CAN'T stop gossiping, or belittling others; as I noticed recently, they were VOID of control, and the more they partook in it, the more vicious, and malicious it was! I have even witnessed Church leaders, head Pastors, and other such creating their share of problems, with gossip, slander, and judgement!!!
I am not ashamed to say I fear such people, because if they don't like someone, they do a world of damage, HOWEVER, I do NOT let that fear have the best of me, it just makes me more inclined to refrain from such, and to find answers for this awfulness! I PRAY for them, and WISH they could see, especially to think about how they would feel, or react if they were the target of such nastiness...
TRUE Christians exist to build UP THE CHURCH (each other), THE BODY of CHRIST, NOT to destroy one another! It doesn't even make sense for us to act in ways that have the potential to harm another of THE FAITH!!!
The saddest thing about gossip is that often, the people being gossiped about, or torn apart, are not known in any capacity, by those afflicting! So, HOW can they spend SO much time on their target? You see, once gossip gets started, it sparks a flame of enticement, and draws others into it, resulting in fictional discussions, because they DON'T know their targets! So, this makes it even more confounding...
It is not wrong to discuss important, or real matters, yet, that also, HAS to be controlled, and dealt with in a manner of respect, and regard! We are taught MUCH about gossip in THE WORD:
MATTHEW 7: 1-5...
1/ "Stop judging, that you may not be judged.
2/ For as you judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you.
3/ Why do you notice the splinter in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own eye?
4/ How can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove that splinter from your eye,' while the wooden beam is in your eye?
5/ You hypocrite, remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother's eye.
We must judge ourselves, and judge of our own acts, but not make our word a law to everybody. We must not judge rashly, nor pass judgment upon our brother without any ground.
We must not make the worst of people.
Here is a just reproof to those who quarrel with their brethren for small faults, while they allow themselves in greater ones. Some sins are as motes, while others are as beams; some as a gnat, others as a camel. Not that there is any sin little; if it be a mote, or splinter, it is in the eye; if a gnat, it is in the throat; both are painful and dangerous, and we cannot be easy or well till they are got out.
That which charity teaches us to call but a splinter in our brother's eye, true repentance and godly sorrow will teach us to call a beam in our own. It is as strange that a man can be in a sinful, miserable condition, and not be aware of it, as that a man should have a beam in his eye, and not consider it; but the god of this world blinds their minds.
Here is a good rule for reprovers; first reform thyself.
PROVERBS 6: 16-19...
16/ There are six things the LORD hates, yes, seven are an abomination to him;
17/ Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood;
18/ A heart that plots wicked schemes, feet that run swiftly to evil,
19/ The false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers.
If the slothful are to be condemned, who do nothing, much more those that do all the ill they can.
Observe how such a man is described. He says and does every thing artfully, and with design. His ruin shall come without warning, and without relief.
Here is a list of things hateful to God. Those sins are in a special manner provoking to God, which are hurtful to the comfort of human life. These things which God hates, we must hate in ourselves; it is nothing to hate them in others.
Let us shun all such practices, and watch and pray against them; and avoid, with marked disapproval, all who are guilty of them, whatever may be their rank.
We are NOT Children, save in spirit, thus, we should have grown beyond such matters by now! WHO HASN'T been hurt by the malicious, damaging flame of gossip? Certainly those who partake in it the most HAVE also, felt the sting, and anguish of gossip???
It is BENEATH those of CHRIST to act in such ways, and DOES place not only stumbling blocks before one another, can permanently damage a person! In recent years, even young Children have been lost to the inferno of the anguish of gossip, and those who initiated such, and continued in this behaviour to the point of someone perishing, even less than this, ought to consider that there are consequences involved...
BE KIND, BE COMPASSIONATE, BE CARING, BE TOLERANT, BE UNDERSTANDING, and BE HUMBLED enough to REALIZE the beam in your own eye; the imperfections of your own being, and the removal of haughty pride, which THE LORD detests, and does punish for!!!

Let us PRAY, and let us FORGIVE, and let us learn to tame that which removes us from GLORIFYING, and HONOURING CHRIST, our LORD, *GOD*, and SAVIOUR!!!
