ECCLESIASTES 5:1-6...
1/ Be not hasty in your utterance and let not your heart be quick to make a promise in God's presence. God is in heaven and you are on earth; therefore let your words be few.
2/ For nightmares come with many cares, and a fool's utterance with many words.
3/ When you make a vow to God, delay not its fulfillment. For God has no pleasure in fools; fulfill what you have vowed.
4/ You had better not make a vow than make it and not fulfill it.
5/ Let not your utterances make you guilty, and say not before his representative, "It was a mistake," lest God be angered by such words and destroy the works of your hands.
6/ Rather, fear God!
DEUTERONOMY 23:22-24...
22/ "When you make a vow to the LORD, your God, you shall not delay in fulfilling it; otherwise you will be held guilty, for the LORD, your God, is strict in requiring it of you.
23/ Should you refrain from making a vow, you will not be held guilty.
24/ But you must keep your solemn word and fulfill the votive offering you have freely promised to the LORD.
Some would have me to believe that I could take the 2, very reverent vows, I made to *GOD*, and, break them! NOT SO! I FEAR *GOD*, and, I LOVE HIM, thus, I HONOUR HIM, and, I took my vows IN the state of spiritual maturity, NOT rash, immaturity, so, you see, they cannot be broken!!!
There is also the fact of putting *GOD* to the test in doing that which we vow, but, do not fulfill, while believing that we are safe in doing so!!!
Promises have always meant much to me, vows, I HAVE broken with people, which, these years later, I regret, and, repent for, but, to go against a vow with *GOD*, is frightening, and, in my mind, wrong, and so, I STAND FAITHFUL to WHAT I have vowed to *GOD*, for HE IS FAITHFUL to me/us, IN HIS PROMISES!!!
