I am guilty of ALLOWING the chaotic world to grab my attention, and stoke my emotions; of this I repent, and catch myself as much as is feasible when it happens, because *GOD* IS the answer, and the antidote, ALWAYS---
It IS SO difficult not to get carried away in the tides of what is happening around us, ESPECIALLY when it is changing things for the worse, and will produce even more contention, conflict, and distress! It is normal for a human to act, and react, YET, as a Christian, the response is more controlled, and certainly more advantageous when we REMAIN IN HIM, IN FAITH, and FAITHFULNESS! We ARE easily tripped due to emotions, and to rashness, STILL, we CAN LEARN the appropriate WAY THROUGH THE LORD, and FOCUS on HIM more, THAT self-control provides time to PRAY, PRAISE, and WORSHIP BEFORE responding in carnal ways!!!
FEAR, and ANXIETY ARE tools of the enemy, AS they REMOVE us from THE LORD, and IF you think long and hard about this FACT, you will begin to see it! IF THE LORD IS FOR US, what difference does it make who in this world is against us ROMANS 8: 28-31? Let's look at this a bit closer...
That is good for the saints which does their souls good. Every providence tends to the spiritual good of those that love God; in breaking them off from sin, bringing them nearer to God, weaning them from the world, and fitting them for heaven. When the saints act out of character, corrections will be employed to bring them back again.
And here is the order of the causes of our salvation, a golden chain, one which cannot be broken.
1. Whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son. All that God designed for glory and happiness as the end, he decreed to grace and holiness as the way. The whole human race deserved destruction; but for reasons not perfectly known to us, God determined to recover some by regeneration and the power of his grace. He predestinated, or before decreed, that they should be conformed to the image of his Son. In this life they are in part renewed, and walk in his steps.
2. Whom he did predestinate, them he also called. It is an effectual call, from self and earth to God, and Christ, and heaven, as our end; from sin and vanity to grace and holiness, as our way. This is the gospel call. The love of God, ruling in the hearts of those who once were enemies to him, proves that they have been called according to his purpose.
3. Whom he called, them he also justified. None are thus justified but those that are effectually called. Those who stand out against the gospel call, abide under guilt and wrath.
4. Whom he justified, them he also glorified. The power of corruption being broken in effectual calling, and the guilt of sin removed in justification, nothing can come between that soul and glory. This encourages our faith and hope; for, as for God, his way, his work, is perfect.
The apostle speaks as one amazed, and swallowed up in admiration, wondering at the height and depth, and length and breadth, of the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge. The more we know of other things, the less we wonder; but the further we are led into gospel mysteries, the more we are affected by them. While God is for us, and we keep in his love, we may with holy boldness defy all the powers of darkness.
Then, there is this: For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind 2 TIMOTHY 1: 7!
God has not given us the spirit of fear, but the spirit of power, of courage and resolution, to meet difficulties and dangers; the spirit of love to him, which will carry us through opposition. And the spirit of a sound mind, quietness of mind. The Holy Spirit is not the author of a timid or cowardly disposition, or of slavish fears. We are likely to bear afflictions well, when we have strength and power from God to enable us to bear them.
And this: The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD ISAIAH 11: 2.
The gospel changes the nature, and makes those who trampled on the meek of the earth, meek like them, and kind to them. But it shall be more fully shown in the latter days. Also Christ, the great Shepherd, shall take care of his flock, that the nature of troubles, and of death itself, shall be so changed, that they shall not do any real hurt. God's people shall be delivered, not only from evil, but from the fear of it. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? The better we know the God of love, the more shall we be changed into the same likeness, and the better disposed to all who have any likeness to him. This knowledge shall extend as the sea, so far shall it spread. And this blessed power there have been witnesses in every age of Christianity, though its most glorious time, here foretold, is not yet arrived. Meanwhile let us aim that our example and endeavours may help to promote the honour of Christ and his kingdom of peace.
There IS EVER knowledge, and application of it to be had! A mere reading OF THE WORD is NOT enough to ANCHOR it into our being; we must STUDY, LEARN, and UTILIZE in order to REMEMBER HOW to HOLD ONTO HIM no matter what, AND to exist accordingly, EVEN WHEN all hell is breaking loose!!!
The world IS full of enmity towards *GOD*, and HIS people, still, we act as if we are safe, and as if we are accepted, INSTEAD OF REMAINING IN HIM, and KEEPING our thoughts on what is ABOVE, and what is to come! We sway back and forth in the tides of distraction, while imagining that is alright! It ISN'T alright, because one never knows WHEN we might be caught off guard enough to be overcome! SO, we work HARDER TO understand HOW to withstand what the world aims to use against us, and to snare us with, THAT we are able to endure until the end IN HIS NAME, and FOR HIS GLORY!!!
ALL that we experience here IS temporal, and WILL be changed in an instant WHEN HE APPEARS, but our TRUE HOME WILL BE ETERNAL, and VOID of EVERYTHING which is against HIM, and us, THEREFORE, effort to push forward for that IS crucial, and wise!!!
AS troubles befall us, our FIRST response OUGHT to be to PRAY, and then, to TRUST THE LORD *GOD* ALMIGHTY, EVEN AS we might be shaken, disturbed, and confused! THIS IS THE WAY OF FAITH, and shows us FAITHFUL UNTO HIM, and HIS WILL!!!
