Prayer is a salve for every sore, and a relief to the spirit under every burden.
If Christ be ours, all things, one way or another, shall be for our eternal good. The man who is a new creature in Christ, may rejoice in all the precious promises God has spoken in his holiness. His present privileges, and the sanctifying influences of the Spirit, are sure earnests of heavenly glory. Faith in the promise will assure us that it is our Father's good pleasure to give us the kingdom: But we are not yet made complete conquerors, and no true believer will abuse these truths to indulge sloth, or vain confidence. Hope in God is the best principle of true courage, for what need those fear who have God on their side? All our victories are from him, and while those who willingly submit to our anointed King shall share his glories, all his foes shall be put under his feet.
Be merciful unto me, O God. This petition includes all the good for which we come to throne of grace. If we obtain mercy there, we need no more to make us happy. It implies likewise our best plea, not our merit, but God's mercy, his free, rich mercy. We may flee to, and trust the mercy of God, when surrounded on all sides by difficulties and dangers. His enemies were too hard for him, if God did not help him. He resolves to make God's promises the matter of his praises, and so we have reason to make them. As we must not trust an arm of flesh when engaged for us, so we must not be afraid of an arm of flesh when stretched out against us. The sin of sinners will never be their security. Who knows the power of God's anger; how high it can reach, how forcibly it can strike.
PSALM 55: 22...
Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you;
He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.
PSALM 52...
1+++Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man?
The lovingkindness of God endures all day long.
2+++Your tongue devises destruction,
Like a sharp razor, O worker of deceit.
3+++You love evil more than good,
Falsehood more than speaking what is right. Selah.
4+++You love all words that devour,
O deceitful tongue.
5+++But God will break you down forever;
He will snatch you up and tear you away from your tent,
And uproot you from the land of the living. Selah.
6+++The righteous will see and fear,
And will laugh at him, saying,
7+++“Behold, the man who would not make God his refuge,
But trusted in the abundance of his riches
And was strong in his evil desire.”
8+++But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in the house of God;
I trust in the lovingkindness of God forever and ever.
9+++I will give You thanks forever, because You have done it,
And I will wait on Your name, for it is good, in the presence of Your godly ones.
PSALM 54...
1+++Save me, O God, by Your name,
And vindicate me by Your power.
2+++Hear my prayer, O God;
Give ear to the words of my mouth.
3+++For strangers have risen against me
And violent men have sought my life;
They have not set God before them. Selah.
4+++Behold, God is my helper;
The Lord is the sustainer of my soul.
5+++He will recompense the evil to my foes;
Destroy them in Your faithfulness.
6+++Willingly I will sacrifice to You;
I will give thanks to Your name, O LORD, for it is good.
7+++For He has delivered me from all trouble,
And my eye has looked with satisfaction upon my enemies.
PSALM 56...
1+++Be gracious to me, O God, for man has trampled upon me;
Fighting all day long he oppresses me.
2+++My foes have trampled upon me all day long,
For they are many who fight proudly against me.
3+++When I am afraid,
I will put my trust in You.
4+++In God, whose word I praise,
In God I have put my trust;
I shall not be afraid.
What can mere man do to me?
5+++All day long they distort my words;
All their thoughts are against me for evil.
6+++They attack, they lurk,
They watch my steps,
As they have waited to take my life.
7+++Because of wickedness, cast them forth,
In anger put down the peoples, O God!
8+++You have taken account of my wanderings;
Put my tears in Your bottle.
Are they not in Your book?
9+++Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call;
This I know, that God is for me.
10+++In God, whose word I praise,
In the LORD, whose word I praise,
11+++In God I have put my trust, I shall not be afraid.
What can man do to me?
12+++Your vows are binding upon me, O God;
I will render thank offerings to You.
13+++For You have delivered my soul from death,
Indeed my feet from stumbling,
So that I may walk before God
In the light of the living.
PSALM 60: 11-12...
11+++O give us help against the adversary,
For deliverance by man is in vain.
12+++Through God we shall do valiantly,
And it is He who will tread down our adversaries.
THROUGH CHRIST, and THE HOLY SPIRIT, we will learn to PRAY, to communicate with THE FATHER, and our voices will be heard by HIM, who WILL grant us power to endure, persevere, and overcome what is common to this world! We will, through practice, develop our lifting UP to HIM, PRAYERS, and PETITIONS, and we will, with heartfelt conscience, BELIEVE to RECEIVE, all according to HIS WILL, and PROMISES, and we will go forth, EVER PRAISING, WORSHIPING, EXALTING, and REJOICING IN HIM, and HIS SOVEREIGN MAJESTIC NAME, as Children of HIS GLORY!!!
