It is that time of year when there are LOTS of obligations to fulfill, and more than half of them social; graduation commencements and parties, cottage gatherings, and on the list goes! Some I enjoy, some not so much, but such is the way Summer goes! By association, I have to attend way more than I would choose to do, but thaz the way LOVE is fulfilled...
Because there are so many gatherings in the warmer seasons, there is also, LOTS of gossip, and whisperings going on! People ENJOY talking about other people, especially those who have tight little, limited circles; they PREY on MANY others, and sit on their backsides IMAGINING this, or that without EVER getting to KNOW the people they accost with their wagging tongues! WRONG, just wrong, and NEVER an indication of a MATURE Christian!!!
Just because someone IN your inner circle says something about someone else, DOES NOT mean that they have ANY foundation for their words, ESPECIALLY, if they have NEVER taken the TIME to know the person from the inner being, and are instead, JUDGING based on exteriors! What this person says is NOT necessarily TRUE, CORRECT, or even fair!!!
WHY people talk about others has varying roots; sometimes it is because they THINK, IMAGINE, or totally ASSUME they are better than the one they are talking about; sometimes people just dislike someone because of the way they look, dress, talk, or act; sometimes ENVY is the root; sometimes it is a CONTROL freak talking; sometimes it is INFERIORITY which stirs things up! It COULD be ANY of MANY reasons, but ALL these reasons are WRONG, and TOTALLY against LOVE and *GOD*!!!
Gossip, and all of its components IS a complex matter, over which MILLIONS of people per hour, per day suffer, and are hurt by even to the point of death!!!
Rumours, and gossip SUCK, and is NOT healthy, even for those partaking in it! In NO way is it *GOD*/CHRIST like, and there ARE LOTS of BIBLE verses concerning gossipers, gossip, lies, slander, and other such associated with such behaviours! Let us look into this a bit...
The Bible tells us that “a perverse man stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends” (Proverbs 16:28). Many a friendship has been ruined over a misunderstanding that started with gossip. Those who engage in this behavior do nothing but stir up trouble and cause anger, bitterness, and pain among friends. Sadly, some people thrive on this and look for opportunities to destroy others. And when such people are confronted, they deny the allegations and answer with excuses and rationalizations. Rather than admit wrongdoing, they blame someone else or attempt to minimize the seriousness of the sin. “A fool's mouth is his undoing, and his lips are a snare to his soul. The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man's inmost parts” (Proverbs 18:7-8).
Those who guard their tongues keep themselves from calamity (Proverbs 21:23). So we must guard our tongues and refrain from the sinful act of gossip. If we surrender our natural desires to the Lord, He will help us to remain righteous. May we all follow the Bible’s teaching on gossip by keeping our mouths shut unless it is necessary and appropriate to speak.
ALL people HAVE partaken in, or have been victims of such, YET, as we GROW INTO CHRIST, we SHOULD be putting such senseless, and wasted actions behind us! How awful it is to be the one others are talking about, pointing fingers at, or judging, and as I told one Woman last year, when someone was hurt on vacation by such people; "IF it were YOU that this was happening to, YOU would be VERY upset", and she said I was right!!!
The REAL issue is that, MOST times, people DON'T even KNOW what they are talking about when they are putting down others; they have ASSUMED things that have NOT been verified, or clarified, and so, HOW is this Adult behaviour, or fair to those who are the brunt end of their uncontrolled tongues, and minds, and judgements???
'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you' IS standard for such behaviours! IF you wouldn't like to suffer in such a way, WHAT gives you the right to make others suffer in such a way? OH *GOD* IS WISE, and KNOWS us better than we know ourselves, indeed, that HE GAVE us SOUND instruction on ALL matters involving the human condition, and what exists on this Earth!!!
I have NEVER been one to limit myself to cliques or other related groups, because I can't stand what goes down when they gather together, besides that I like a wide range of people! I HAVE had to remain in close proximity, and even with my very defective hearing, I get what is being said, and done, and I DO read lips!!!
I am not anti-social, but I SURE DON'T like gatherings where there are TOO many cliques sitting, and standing around, ASSUMING they are all that, and others are nothing! What does THE BIBLE say? GALATIANS 6: 3...
For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
We are to bear one another's burdens. So we shall fulfill the law of Christ. This obliges to mutual forbearance and compassion towards each other, agreeably to his example. It becomes us to bear one another's burdens, as fellow-travellers. It is very common for a man to look upon himself as wiser and better than other men, and as fit to dictate to them. Such a one deceives himself; by pretending to what he has not, he puts a cheat upon himself, and sooner or later will find the sad effects. This will never gain esteem, either with God or men. Every one is advised to prove his own work. The better we know our own hearts and ways, the less shall we despise others, and the more be disposed to help them under infirmities and afflictions. How light soever men's sins seem to them when committed, yet they will be found a heavy burden, when they come to reckon with God about them. No man can pay a ransom for his brother; and sin is a burden to the soul. It is a spiritual burden; and the less a man feels it to be such, the more cause has he to suspect himself. Most men are dead in their sins, and therefore have no sight or sense of the spiritual burden of sin. Feeling the weight and burden of our sins, we must seek to be eased thereof by the Saviour, and be warned against every sin.
Let us SEEK CHRIST JESUS IN ALL matters, and let us TRAIN to BE AS HIM, in the best of our understanding! Let us PRAY for STRENGTH to RESIST what is of this world, and worldly! Let us PRAY for those addicted to gossip, and related behaviours! Let us PRAY for their victims! Let us HOLD our tongues as best as we can, which TAKES TIME, but which IS POSSIBLE THROUGH HIM to do! Let us STEP INTO LOVE FOR REAL, for LOVE IS THE WAY, THE BEGINNING, and IS ETERNAL OVER ALL else! LOVE TEACHES, CORRECTS, and PROVES HIS OWN! Let us HONOUR HIM BY putting ON the NEW, IMPROVED self, FOR HIS GLORY, and the greater good of others!!!
