Some, in their daily lives, party all the time, sleep around, and otherwise do what is not aligned, and on the examples go! Then, once a week, or whenever necessary, depending how involved they are in the Church, or other related organizations, they appear to be quite the role models...
I am not judging, I have no rights, or room to, for I am far from being HOLY, yet, it does irk me at times to witness these people, whom often, have great influence on others, and whom will fight to the death for their right to live as they want to, despite their proclamation of being devout. Mistakes, and errs are par for the course of this *GOD* given time, no doubt, but when knowledge is denied by fleshy desires, is it merely a mistake, or err???
We are allowed to have a drink or two, we are NOT allowed to pass to a state of being drunk, for the simple PROTECTION of not being whisked away in debauchery, which almost always means sin, and you can argue that if you don't know what you are doing it is not deliberate sin, all you want, the TRUTH states NOT to allow ourselves to GET to this point! And about getting wasted on drugs, if you think that this is acceptable behaviour, are you serious? Being in ANY altered state by means of the world IS to, not only invite greater likelihood of sin, but IS allowing sin to enter into a consecrated being, the Christian! What about promiscuity? Is it acceptable at all? NOT according to the WILL OF *GOD*, ESPECIALLY when one, or both parties are Married! Again, I wonder how many people read THE BIBLE, study it, and understand our ROLE IN HIS WILL?!?
Christ here shows that it will not be enough to own him for our Master, only in word and tongue. It is necessary to our happiness that we believe in Christ, that we repent of sin, that we live a holy life, that we love one another. This is his will, even our sanctification. Let us take heed of resting in outward privileges and doings, lest we deceive ourselves, and perish eternally, as multitudes do, with a lie in our right hand. Let every one that names the name of Christ, depart from all sin. There are others, whose religion rests in bare hearing, and it goes no further; their heads are filled with empty notions.
WHEN we ALLOW the desires of the flesh to rule OVER the WILL of *GOD*, we are far from aligned, let alone reflecting HIM! When we are SO weak that we CAN'T resist our desires in order to reflect HIS WILL, we are yet in the flesh! When we WANT what is of the world, NOW, and expect HIS GRACE to carry us through, we are as if mocking HIS GRACE! LIVING IN GRACE IS DENYING THE FLESH, and THE WORLD IN FAVOUR OF HIS WILL, HIS WAY, HIS LOVE, HIS GIFT(S)!!!
Everyone IS tempted, HOWEVER, the spiritually mature KNOW HOW to resist, and to desist from that which tempts! HOW is it possible to reflect *GOD* when we are acting in ways that are worldly, such as becoming drunk to the point of doing things we should not do, or would not do, if we remained sober? HOW is it possible to be a TRUE Christian when one gets wasted, exposes themselves, sleeps around, and other such? WHERE IN HIS name, IS the LOGIC in this kind of thinking, in this kind of living? IT IS SELFISHNESS which is ruling, NOT the WILL of *GOD*!!!
Thought: to make a living, to secure our livelihoods, whomever we are employed by, or for the sake of our own business, we are required to represent them/ourselves in the best of our abilities, and so it is with THE LORD, and why not? We ARE bid to be as salt, and light; not useless, tasteless salt, or a weak semblance of light, instead as ENRICHED salt, and HOLY LIGHT!!!
We are OF CHRIST, IN THE BODY of THE HOLY CHURCH, and ARE expected, even required to bear constant testimony TO HIM, HIS WILL, and WAYS, FOR HIS GLORY, and the greater good of all, and for the healing, and restoration of all!!!
People might not like that we abstain, resist, and desist, but if we are living for their approval, we haven't quite picked up our cross in understanding! To BE CHRIST-like is NOT for the sake of the flesh, instead for sharing in HIS GLORY eternally! The flesh will long be gone, but the spirit, the TRUE self, is forever, be that in HIS PRESENCE, or under HIS feet!!!!
Once you get started on the PATH, it is TOTAL commitment, NOT partially, even IF we still have LOTS to learn, and to change, we DO so willingly, ACCORDING TO HIS WILL, and the world does NOT have even a fine thread to bind us to! Once you get started on resisting, and desisting, it becomes natural to do so, no matter how much pressure from the world there is, no matter how much scoffing there is, no matter how much rejection there is!!!
STUDY to SHOW yourselves approved! KNOW what being a Christian entails! It IS more than FAITH, it IS FAITHFULNESS TO THE MOST HIGH LORD *GOD*, and HIS WILL IN ACTION, ALIVE, full of HIS GLORY, that we SHINE as HIS own, and invite others into that HOLY GLOW!!!
MANY people are SO happy when they find a Preacher who tells them they are allowed to do whatever they want, because the MIND WANTS to have it both ways; the world, and THE LORD! People are ecstatic when they hear they can be drug addicts, alcoholics, sleep around, and fulfill their worldly desires, and THE LORD will forgive them! It ISN'T difficult to find THE REAL TRUTH, and THE WHOLE TRUTH in THE BIBLE, but one HAS to spend time seeking it, and seeking THE LORD OVER all else! Believe what you will, but do yourself a favour, and LEARN THE TRUTH BEFORE you do what you WANT! I also, was lost on the highway of belief of total freedom, and LORD have MERCY, now that I have exited onto THE PATH of enlightenment, I am amazed that I was never taught more than partially, let alone correctly! THE LORD says that if those CHOSE to lead HIS people DON'T give them the WHOLE TRUTH, but only assure them of PEACE, when there is none, these will suffer from the loss of HIS people, and ALL Clergy OUGHT to take this to heart, KEEP it in mind, and remember what is to come!!!
