To be content with what we have is to IN FAITH, wait on THE LORD, RELY ON HIM, and TRUST HIM to provide for our needs! CONTENTMENT IS a WISDOM that diminishes, and eliminates unworthy desires, and the anxieties that accompany such! In this world, one of the greatest races is towards wealth, and prosperity, sexuality, in short, self-inclination, in which case, desires of the flesh, over-ride the innate wholesomeness of the spirit, SO THE LORD, in HIS GENIUS, FORESAW, BEFORE CREATION itself, the NEED for contentment in the restless, hungered desires of Mankind...
Contentment is NOT a negative, nor being resigned; instead it is a character-building behavioural trait which LEADS one to increased FAVOUR of THE LORD, and ALLOWS one to work towards goals that will optimize the spirit, which is the TRUE being, and the being that has the opportunity to share in eternity WITH HIS MAJESTY, THE LORD!!!
Dig, if one is impoverished, and spends useful time pursuing what may never be, as in over-reaching, they are NOT placing themselves in better circumstances, instead, they are adding more negatives to their situation, NOR are they standing in FAITH! If they RELY ON *GOD*, and TRUST HIM to move mountains for them, WHILE they work towards improving their lives, internally, and externally, they would be more optimized to receiving! AND, to live in the desire of worldly matters OVER *GODLY* ones, opens us to increased err, and distance from THE LORD! We are at risk when we are most desirous; great risk!!!
It IS a matter of ALIGNED FOCUS, and CENTERED actions premised UPON *GOD*, that we become content! IN becoming content, we are NOT bound by what could tear us away from HIM, in fact, we find ourselves CLOSER TO HIM, thus, HIS BLESSINGS! RELY NOT ON WHAT IS OF THE WORLD, INSTEAD RELY ON *GOD*, sums it up the best...
Happiness of the world is, often, an optical illusion, filled with emptiness, and confusion, WHEREAS happiness OF THE *GODLY* kind is empowering, enabling, endowed, and eternal; happiness of the *GODLY* kind will NOT flee you, nor forsake you...
Our senses are not what needs to be satisfied; it is our SOUL that needs what is most difficult to find in this journey! That doesn't mean that our senses won't be satisfied, as we seek to build up the spirit, it means that they aren't predominant OVER the spiritual needs! We learn to be self-controlled, which leads to greater BLESSINGS of the HOLY kind, OVER the worldly kind...
Discontentment IS a shackle TO a pit of disastrous matters for the spirit, and with NO REAL freedom; constraining, and restraining spiritual growth! Contentment is FREEDOM to move on WITH *GOD* AT THE HELM, AS THE LORD HE IS!!!
Context is ruled by perception, and so, to take something of THE LORD, out of context, makes a world of difference in HOW it works FOR our own good, and HIS GLORY! Remember we are DEAD to the world, and ALIVE in HIM!!!
