I have been working with the Elderly for a decade now, and, have been enlightened through them, in many ways! Today, growing old, is nothing like it was back in the day, partly because of Insurance companies, and, other factors, which, places many of these people in circumstances they are not willing to deal with, in which case, takes much of the joy away from their final days in this life, and, even shortens their remaining time...
Caring for the Elderly, has become an extremely prosperous business, and, does not ensure that they are being well taken care of! It has become systematized, calloused, even demeaning to those who are forced to be placed into the system! Some of what I have witnessed, is heart-wrenching, and, wrong! Some of the local homes in this area, and, the one I frequently visit, charges, on the average, over $3, 000 a month, PLUS, and, while there are some pro's, there are, in my opinion, way more con's! This cost does not include a private room, nor, anything worthy of such a cost! Some of these people's Health Insurance, doesn't cover everything, and so, before 6 months are up, they are broke, and, without any place to go, unless, their Families take them in, or, pay their way at a less expensive, worse home! SO, what purpose was served, in the first place, by forcing them into the system, and, how much more will it cost the overall system to provide care for those who have lost their homes, gone broke, and, so forth???
Just a few decades ago, the Elderly were allowed to just be the Elderly, and yes, SOME had to be placed in certain environments for their own safety, and, good, but NOW, it is likely that MOST Elderly will be forced into a system that is largely, impersonal, and, does not offer them the comforts they REALLY need! Thus, they become withdrawn, depressed, ill, then...
If you want to really realize what it means to ENJOY the day, visit some of these people! If you want to know what it means to be grateful for what you have, visit one of these homes! If you want to know what it means to make the most of what you have, WHILE you have it, visit the Elderly!!!
It is SO sad to see Men, and, Women, who raised Families, worked hard, and, were decent citizens of this life, lose everything!!!
Thus, in my own way, I bring as much as I can, when I go to visit them! They like me, so, it is not difficult to make them smile, laugh, or, feel the LOVE! Sometimes, the whole ward is on edge, especially in the Evenings, when they suffer what is called Sundowner's, in which case, there is a lull of angered voices, pained voices, excited chatter, excited movements, and, other such! One Lady gets downright nasty, one talks non-stop, in a loud, excited voice, which, increases the emotions of the others, some scream as if they are being hurt, and, on it goes! I have a way with most of them, and, manage to calm them down, but, it is a temporary fix, at best! Sometimes I will just sit with them, rubbing heads, and, hands, other times, I do things to make them laugh, then, other times, there is no reaching them! I LOVE looking into their faces, reading the years. Some of these people are rarely visited by their LOVED ones, and these are the ones I most look out for, because they are more subject to....

Age comes upon us, quicker than we think, SO, we MUST make the most of this time, this gift of *GOD*, to come into our TRUE selves, the spirit, because we just don't KNOW what is going to plague us in the future, and, we don't KNOW IF we are going to be afflicted now, or later! Thus, EACH gift of a day, MUST be realized as 'The KINGDOM of *GOD* is at hand!'...
I often wonder how many of these people HAVE taken the time to make things right with their souls, with *GOD*! I pray that HE will keep each of their souls, that is all I can do! But, WE have the advantage of the NOW, while we are of sound mind, and, body, to prepare our way, working through our salvation with fear, and, trembling (PHILIPPIANS 2: 12), and, humble ourselves under the MIGHTY hand of *GOD* (1 PETER 5:6)...
TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOURSELVES, body, mind, and, spirit, for you ARE the temple of *GOD*! Time IS PRECIOUS! Be happy, content, healthy, strong, FAITHFUL, LOVING, and, all which is WHOLESOMELY GOOD for the being! PRAY, PRAISE, WORSHIP, and, REJOICE in the life of the righteous! GIVE of yourselves to others, DO good, and, BE good! I LOVE YOU, *GOD* BLESS, and, BE with us ALL!!!
