1/ Therefore, since Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same attitude (for whoever suffers in the flesh has broken with sin),
2/ so as not to spend what remains of one's life in the flesh on human desires, but on the will of God.
Willingness to suffer with Christ equips the Christian with the power to conquer sin...
The work of a Christian is twofold—doing the will of God and suffering his pleasure. This chapter directs us in both. The duties we are here exhorted to employ ourselves in are the mortification of sin, living to God, sobriety, prayer, charity, hospitality, and the best improvement of our talents, which the apostle presses upon Christians from the consideration of the time they have lost in their sins, and the approaching end of all things...
The people of THE LORD, ought to be very busy! Busy studying, learning, embracing, understanding, and, utilizing the instructions which, optimize our lives, and, further the maturity of the spirit! Busy PRAYING for others! Busy THANKING, PRAISING, and, WORSHIPING THE LORD, our *GOD*! Busy BEING HIS reflection in the darkness! Busy grabbing those on the down-slide! Yes, BUSY IN HIS WILL, and, HIS WAYS!!!
WHEN we are busy, we are not as prone to feel negative thoughts, such as self-pity, remorse, and, so forth, to imagine things, to dream of things we might never realize, to waste precious time on self, and, so forth! When we are idle, we are near err, because the devil is delighted by anything we do, away from what is pleasing to THE LORD, and so, jumps right in, to do his favoured task, of tripping us up. Idle people are prone to being busybodies, gossips, trouble seekers, and, so forth, all of which is, NOT OF *GOD*! Busy people ARE on the straight, and, narrow path, EMPLOYING THE WISDOM OF THE LORD!!!
Such busyness is not so much physical, as it is spiritual, and, mental, although, one should remain physically busy too, yet, many today, have no job, or, even a home to keep busy with, still, there are ways to keep physically busy!!!
Since we understand we are SERVANTS of THE LORD, we should be EVER serving HIM, and, others, which, will KEEP us quite busy! If I claim to BE IN THE LORD, I am conscious of BEING HIS instrument, thus, I am humbly WILLING to ALLOW HIM to work in, and, through me, that, HIS WILL IS being fulfilled!!!
There is an old song that explains some of this, though it is a LOVE from a Man to a Woman, it is yet applicable as from any person to THE LORD:
When I think of all the worries people seem to find
And how they're in a hurry to complicate their mind
By chasing after money and dreams that can't come true
I'm glad that we are different, we've better things to do
May others plan their future, I'm busy lovin' you (1-2-3-4)
Sha-la-la-la-la-la, live for today
Sha-la-la-la-la-la, live for today
And don't worry 'bout tomorrow, hey, hey, hey
Sha-la-la-la-la-la, live for today
Live for today
We were never meant to worry the way that people do
And I don't need to hurry as long as I'm with you
We'll take it nice and easy and use my simple plan...
PRIORITY ONE: THE LORD! Then, SERVING HIM, and, others! LOVE, obedience, and, executing HIS WILL! This TAKES LOTS of time, for it is not easy, nor, lightly embedded! TODAY IS THE DAY for ALL things just, right, good, wholesome, and, HOLY!!!
JAMES 1: 22-26...
22/ Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deluding yourselves.
23/ For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his own face in a mirror.
24/ He sees himself, then goes off and promptly forgets what he looked like.
25/ But the one who peers into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres, and is not a hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, such a one shall be blessed in what he does.
26/ If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, his religion is vain.
ROMANS 12: 11-12, & 21...
11/ Do not grow slack in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.
12/ Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer.
21/ Do not be conquered by evil but conquer evil with good.
Yes, we MUST be busy FOR HIS GLORY! Even the Angels in Heaven, are busy fulfilling HIS WILL, PRAISING, WORSHIPING, and, GLORIFYING HIS HOLY name!!!
